Marts Handyman Services

Marts Handyman Services is a handyman business established in 2007, providing handyman and home improvement solutions for almost twenty years. It operates throughout Cardiff, excluding the city centre, and surrounding areas, including Penarth and Dinas Powys to the west, Taffs Well, Tongwynlais, and Caerphilly to the north, and the Rogerstone, Bassaleg, and Duffryn areas of Newport. The business promotes a 'no job too small' service and has over thirty years of working experience in the industry, with the owner self-employed for nineteen years.

It is fully insured with public liability insurance of £2,000,000. Services include fitting blinds and curtain poles, re-sealing baths and shower trays, installing shower screens, TV brackets and screens, handrails, door canopies, shelving and storage solutions, most plumbing requirements (water), non-notifiable electrical jobs such as changing light fittings and sockets, and traditional trades including tiling, plastering, and carpentry works such as door hanging, flooring, boxing in, and skirtings.

The business does not carry out painting, nor does it work for landlords or letting agents for ethical reasons. Smaller jobs are charged on an hourly basis, while larger jobs taking more than a day are subject to a free quotation. Work in Pontcanna, or the areas surrounding Albany Rd and City Rd, can only be accepted if customers can guarantee parking within a reasonable distance from the property, and customers in a residential parking area must have a visitor permit.

Householders in Cardiff seeking a broad mix of small repairs and improvement projects consistently describe Martin as dependable and skilled across many trades. Customers mention sealing a shower that had been letting water through, attaching a television bracket, installing a new shower, refreshing grout, laying flooring, plastering and redoing an interior porch, along with erecting a shed, putting up garage storage and a work surface, and enlarging a loft hatch with a new ladder.

Several accounts note his punctuality, care and tidiness, noting that disruption stays low and the property is left clean once the work is finished. A theme running through the feedback is the practical guidance he offers, including suggestions that saved householders money and advice on spotting future faults.

People also highlight his friendly manner, his quick and efficient pace and the clear quotes given before work starts, so there are no surprises about cost. The standard of the finish draws praise, with bathrooms described as looking new and jobs completed to a high standard. Repeat business is common, with one householder calling on him a second time for bathroom work and garage fittings, while another reports that an old shed was taken down and a replacement built swiftly.
